Provision of a Public Funeral Service

Requirement to tender for provision of a Public Health Funeral service. Public Health funerals are provided by local authorities for people who have passed away and have no next of kin, or whose next of kin, relatives or friends are unable or unwilling to make the necessary arrangements for a funeral.
The tendering of the contract allows the Council to budget more accurately for the 3 year period and using one contractor makes the arranging of the funerals (and the administration process involved) more efficient. The provision of a Public Health funeral is statutory and historically the tendor has been done on a 3 yearly basis.
