In March 2026 the government waste strategy
requires local councils to provide a statutory and dedicated food
waste collection service. In order to facilitate this service we
will need to issue residents with a 7 litre caddie to store food
waste in the house and a larger 23 litre caddie to present food
waste at kerbside on collection day. The funding cost for this
project is covered by central government burdening fund and has
already been paid to to Lancaster City Council. If we submit order
along with other districts in the Lancashire Waste Partnership by
6th February 2025 we will secure a significant discount on the
normal purchase price of the products on order
