In February 2018, Budget Council agreed in
principle to develop a business case for a potential outdoor
adventure play development at Williamson Park which would improve
the offer to residents and visitors, generate income and lower
subsidy. This will assist in achieving the corporate ambition of
ensuring Williamson Park is self-financing by 2022.
Following the invitation to tender it is requested that a decision
is made to engage the preferred supplier to draw up a detailed
design for the play development (including consultation exercise).
This will then enable us to work to finalise a robust business plan
and design for the site, which can then be presented to the
relevant decision making body for decision to proceed to the
construction phase.
Key stages for the project are as follows-
1) Procure preferred supplier. Progress- currently being
selected
2) Award design work to preferred supplier- Progress- see key
decision
3) Work with preferred supplier to finalise design (including
consultation) and business plan
4) Final decision to be sought through budget process.
There will be no construction or implementation on site until the
business case has been accepted and a budget has been
allocated.
