Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Paul Gardner, Sandra Thornberry and David Whitaker.

To consider, pursuant to Section 249 (1) of the Local Government Act 1972, past Members of the City Council for admittance to the Roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster in recognition of their eminent service.

Council considered the admittance to the roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster former Councillors Abbott Bryning, Tricia Heath, Malcolm Thomas and Geoff Knight in recognition of the eminent service rendered by them to the District as past Members of the Council

The motion was moved by Councillor Dowding and seconded by Councillor Gardiner.  On being put to the vote, the Mayor declared the proposition unanimously carried.

Resolved:

That pursuant to Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, Messrs Abbott Bryning, Malcolm Thomas, Geoff Knight and Mrs Tricia Heath be admitted to the Roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster in recognition of their eminent service as past Members of the Council.

Messrs Abbott Bryning, Malcolm Thomas, Geoff Knight and Mrs Tricia Heath  then each signed the Roll of Honour and were presented by the Mayor with a certificate and badge. 

Honorary Alderman Geoff Knight then responded on behalf of the new Honorary Aldermen.
