APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE Minutes: Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Catherine Armistead, Matt Black, Phil Black, Martin Bottoms, Brett Cooper, Phil Bradley, Tom Fish, Andrew Gardiner, Ross Hunter, Caroline Jackson, Peter Jackson, Kate Knight, Jack Lenox, Sally Maddocks, Paul Newton, Sue Penney, Robert Redfern, Paul Stubbins, Sandra Thornberry, Paul Tynan and John Wild.

Vote of Thanks To give a vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor. Minutes: A vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor was moved by Councillor Pritchard and seconded by Councillor Hamilton-Cox.
On being put to the vote, the proposition was clearly carried.
The retiring Mayor responded.
Resolved:
(1) That the best thanks of the City Council be conveyed to the retiring Mayor, Councillor Abi Mills for the service rendered to the City during 2024/25. |

Election of Mayor To elect a Mayor of the City Council for the ensuing year, Minutes: It was moved by Councillor Gawith and seconded by Councillor Cleet that Councillor Margaret Pattison be elected Mayor of the City of Lancaster for the ensuing municipal year.
On being put to the vote, the Mayor declared the proposition clearly carried.
Resolved:
That Councillor Pattison be elected Mayor of the City of Lancaster for the ensuing municipal year.
Councillor Pattison thereupon made and subscribed a Declaration of Acceptance of Office as required by Section 83(3) of the Local Government Act 1972 as amended before the Chief Executive as the proper officer of the Council.
The Chair was then vacated by Councillor Abi Mills and taken by the Mayor. Children from Sandylands Primary School sang during the interval, followed by a performance from Bay Leadership Academy.
On taking the Chair, the Mayor expressed her thanks to the meeting and presented the retiring Mayor with her past-Mayor’s brooch and the retiring Deputy Mayor with his certificate. |

Election of Deputy Mayor To elect a Deputy Mayor for the ensuing year. Minutes: Upon the invitation of the Mayor, Councillor Wood proposed:-
“That Councillor John Hanson be elected Deputy Mayor of the City of Lancaster for the ensuing municipal year”.
The proposition was seconded by Councillor Harris.
On being put to the vote, the Mayor declared the proposition clearly carried.
Resolved:
That Councillor Hanson be elected Deputy Mayor of the City of Lancaster for the ensuing municipal year.
Councillor Hanson thereupon made and subscribed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office as required by Section 83(3) of the Local Government Act 1972 as amended before the Chief Executive as the proper officer of the Council.

Minutes: The Mayor gave a warm thanks to the school children who had watched the meeting, especially the children from Sandylands School and the young people from Bay Leadership Academy who had performed during the interval. |
