Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Rob Devey, Mel Guilding, Janet Hall, Brendan Hughes, Christopher Leadbetter, John Wild, Paul Woodruff and Peter Yates.

To consider, pursuant to Section 249 (1) of the Local Government Act 1972, past Members of the City Council for admittance to the Roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster in recognition of their eminent service.

In recognition of their eminent service to the District as past Members of the Council, Members considered the admittance to the roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster the following former Councillors:

Mr David Kerr

Mrs Shirley Burns

Mr Mike Greenall

Mrs Joyce Taylor

The motion was moved by Councillor Abbott Bryning and seconded by Councillor Geoff Knight.  On being put to the vote, the Mayor declared the proposition unanimously carried.

Resolved:-

That pursuant to Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, Mr David Kerr, Mrs Shirley Burns, Mr Mike Greenall and Mrs Joyce Taylor be admitted to the Roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster in recognition of their eminent service as past Members of the Council.

Honorary Aldermen Kerr, Burns, Greenall and Taylor then signed the Roll of Honour and were presented by the Mayor with a framed certificate. 

Honorary Alderman Mrs. Joyce Taylor then responded on behalf of her follow Honorary Aldermen.
